1984 is a book everyone should read at least once. The audiobook version I listened to (I've also read the printed version at least twice) is excellent and chilling. Orwell's other books are also very worthwhile. Animal Farm is, next to 1984, his best known book. For another side of his life, try Down and Out in London and Paris (or is it Paris and London? Could never remember without looking it up, lol).
